Nehemiah Community Church

Sunnyside is the oldest African American community in south central Houston.  It is located in Houston City Council District D southeast of the intersection of Loop 610 South and State Highway 288. Seven HISD schools are located in the neighborhood including Worthing High School and Woodson K- 8 School.  We will place the highest priority on reaching lost people with the message of Jesus Christ through a highly relational ministry.   We will incorporate contemporary worship, life application teaching and a strong small group ministry.  We will be defined by 5 core pillars:

·        Truth - We value the Bible and applying it to every area of our lives.

·        Worship - We value expressing our love and gratitude to God and celebrating His presence.

·        Spiritual Maturity - We value pursuing personal growth in knowing God and keeping His commandments.

·        Youth Evangelism - We value intentionally communicating God’s message of truth and love to youth in every possible way.

·        Community - We value building authentic relationships and experiencing love and acceptance in a caring community.

Vision Statement

To build a church that will be actively involved in leading the youth and adults of Sunnyside, into a life changing relationship with Jesus Christ and becoming part of a growing community of Christians.  We will authentically express our love for God, through obedience to His Word and for others through serving one another and being committed to applying the Bible in every area of our lives.

Mission Statement

To disciple the members of Nehemiah Community Church, so that they are equipped to impact individuals, families, and communities for God’s Kingdom.
